Well, crap ...again

When I finally pulled away from the tv this morning to go to work, TMobile was chasing down their own rider as usual.

I thought with predictability like that, Flandis would be safe.

I was a little worried though because he lost his poker face and the yellow jersey was soaking wet.

But work called.

Of course, once I got to work I went straight to CN and scanned the results. I had to keep going down the list to find Floyd. I thought it was a mistake. A terrible mistake.

CRA-ACK

Wow, when's the last time the yellow jersey cracked that hard? And Axel's the hero of the day. How emotional it must be to have to pace up your friend and teammate in that way.

Man, I don't want Kloden to win. I'm going to have to root for the Aussie with the funny eyebrows now.

crap.

periero could win this thing.

he only lost a bit over a minute to Kloden in the first TT.

30 minute break let loose wins him the Tour?

crazy-talk.

poor Floyd. total bonk.

Um, what about rooting for Floydy-baby? He's down but maybe he's not out. Another big mtn stage and the TT and this might just be a blip on the drama we call the Tour.

Oh, I'll still root for him to win a stage and to move up to top five, but his chances of winning are done.

He needs to make up more than 5 minutes on Sastre, Kloden and Evans.

He can get, at most, 2 minutes in the TT. And so that means he needs at least 4 minutes tomorrow. About 5 GC guys would have to crack tomorrow like he did today.

bummer

I am curious to hear his comments. He's always claimed he doesn't believe in making excuses.....

poor FLandis.

we can also hope he's racing clean and it caught up to him, cuz he's human.

... um ... well we can hope, anyway.

i agree, don't want Kloden to win...wow I really thought Floyd was going to be protected today but only Axel was up there. T-Mobile had several guys, CSC had guys but Floyd was so isolated. Now he is like 8 minutes behind...yuk!

Floyd is such a stud.

interview, where he shoots straight from the f'ed up hip of his.

... and you are sooo showin' off with these posts today.

Floyd lost the tour today, not the day he let Periero get 30 minutes.

All that did was muck it up for the other riders who are now contending for the win.

If anyone has goofy ass team tactics its TMobile. They have 5 riders on the last climb and they don't do anything about it except chase themselves?

CSC has fantastic tactics.

Phonak is just straight up out powered.

That interview was refreshing. None of those mysterious euro ailments like lung infections and inflamed spleens. Just had a bad day.

I think all riders have at least one bad day. Its just the luck of the draw on when it occurs. If you have a bad day on a flat stage, where your whole team can surround you, you are probably going to be fine and no one will ever have known.

But a bad day on a TT like Levi, or on an epic mtn stage like Periero and Landis, Crappo.

this cracks me up:

Q: It had absolutely nothing to do with your hip?

FL: No, that was not a factor.

Q: Would you tell us if it was?

FL: No.
