sometimes old flour has little bugs inside...yes, all the best for pabcid...p.s. how was the chariot races?
that's what i was going to say!!flour doesn't go bad unless it has weevils in it
thank you.i am counting down the days (14) to trying your blackberry pie.
jeffe has to stay away from pie until after 3pm!
weevils ... ew
flour doesn't go bad, like in rancid bad, but it loses its fluffiness over time and gets dense and icky.you can sift it and spring new life to itor you can buy new flour
but then can't you use it for a good old lump of pound cake?or is that just the scot in me?
do you have a sifter?
moths.our cupboard was recently full of moths. and i still keep finding those little larves (larvas?) worm things in all the dry stuff - even the flour.even know i threw EVERYTHING away, including the flour, which was in a tightly wound, clear plastic container.i'm still finding moths and their larva things - even in the flour. ewe.sometimes when i cook brown rice now, i look for little eyes in the kernals because they look like larva.i'm rambling.anyway, that looks good.
that's what I was going to say too! have we all had weevils in our flour? what's that say about our baking?of course, old flour is good for marking cross courses.btw, keep baking like that and you'll definitely rival beth's quads -- just not with muscle.
I'm making one this weekend. Yum yum in my tum tum!
